TrakCom’s new technology (nt) Vehicle Communications Controller (VCC) is the central element in the Onboard Communications System (OCS). The ntVCC2 manages and coordinates the operation of all system resources and interconnections; Passenger Communication Terminals (PCT); Passenger Information Displays; Hostler Communication Terminals (HCT); Public Address Amplifiers (PAA); onboard video surveillance recorded to Network Attached Storage (tNAS); and, through the OCS radio shelf, provides a gateway to wayside communications infrastructure. The ntVCC2’s user-friendly web server allows technicians to configure, monitor and troubleshoot OCS components on-site or use TrakCom’s 4G/LTE remote management tools from any location in the world. A CAN bus equipped ntVCC2 also interfaces to the train’s Vehicle On-Board Controller (VOBC) and Train Monitoring System (TMS) enabling control centre connectivity through wayside infrastructure.
